Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
In 1888, Delta Delta Delta founders Sarah Ida Shaw and Eleanor Dorcas Pond saw a need for an organization that would “be kind alike to all and think more of the girl’s inner self and character than of her personal appearance.” Their vision became a reality with the values Delta Iota carries out today, including diversity, equity, inclusion, access, and belonging (DEIAB).
Delta Iota is committed to exposing injustices in our communities while encouraging our members to serve as catalysts for change and consistently improve themselves. Our sorority prioritizes DEIAB by recognizing the importance of a welcoming and supportive environment that fosters a sense of belonging for all members. Beyond words, we work to hold ourselves accountable and dismantle barriers by striving for diverse representation, inclusive policies, education, and open dialogue. As our members progress in their DEIAB journey, we hope to know better and do better, helping move the needle through our partnerships, leadership, and service.
